Swatch’s Newest MoonSwatch Only Exists for One Day — and One Country

MISSION TO THE SUN - SOLAR ECLIPSE arrives August 12, timed to the actual solar eclipse it's named after

Swatch has a habit of turning celestial events into limited-run watches, and this time it’s gone all in on timing: the MISSION TO THE SUN – SOLAR ECLIPSE launches exclusively on August 12, 2026, the same day a total solar eclipse sweeps across parts of Spain. No global rollout, no drawn-out release window — just one day, one country, one watch.

A Small Detail With a Big Story

Built on the familiar MISSION TO THE SUN silhouette from the OMEGA x Swatch Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection, this edition’s defining feature is easy to miss at first glance: a black Bioceramic pusher at 2 o’clock, standing in deliberate contrast against the rest of the case to echo the moment the Moon slides in front of the Sun. Flip the watch over and there’s a second nod to the occasion — a New Moon motif on the battery cover, marking the lunar phase that makes every solar eclipse possible in the first place.

Everything else stays true to the Bioceramic MoonSwatch formula. The case is crafted from Swatch’s patented Bioceramic, a blend of two-thirds high-performance ceramic and one-third castor-oil-derived bio-sourced material, delivering a matte, tactile finish that’s become the collection’s signature. Expect the same asymmetrical case shape and the tachymeter scale with its dot over ninety that ties every MoonSwatch back to OMEGA’s Speedmaster Moonwatch, plus the OMEGA x Swatch dual branding on dial and crown. A mission statement is engraved on the caseback, as with every release in the line.

Where (and How) to Actually Get One

This one isn’t going wide. The MISSION TO THE SUN – SOLAR ECLIPSE will be sold exclusively in Spain, available through Swatch’s Spanish website and in-store at three locations: Bilbao, Ibiza, and Valencia. Swatch’s Rolling Planet tour will also be making stops in León throughout the day for anyone hoping to see it in person before deciding.

For a brand that’s built an entire secondary market around scarcity and geography-locked drops, this eclipse-day release doubles down on both — collectors outside Spain will need to move fast through resale channels, or wait for the next celestial excuse to strike.
